About JA Maker Bowl
Junior Achievement has been inspiring Makers through its flagship JA Company Program® for nearly 100 years and it’s time to celebrate! Join other Austin-area businesses and supporters of JA of Central Texas (JACT) at the JA Maker Bowl, a bowling fundraiser that is a fun mix of team-building, networking and philanthropy. While JA Maker Bowl is a celebration of Austin’s creative culture and local entrepreneurial spirit, everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Event proceeds allow more young people in Central Texas to participate in JA’s proven programs.
How to Get Started in 4 Easy Steps
1) A team captain gathers a team of five
2) Register team online
3) Bowlers secure donations from family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.
4) Bowling teams meet at Dart Bowl on September 14th for two fun-filled games of bowling, shoe rental included. Each bowler receives a pair of cool JA Maker Bowl socks and the chance to win door prizes.
The online system makes collecting donations a breeze! After captains have registered their teams, they’ll receive a link to share with team members to set up their online fundraising pages. Team members can then share their fundraising pages through social media or send their donation links by email to their families and friends. JA provides bowlers with sample content they can use to create their fundraising pages as well as a sample letter that can be sent to potential donors and sponsors. Teams can start utilizing these fundraising tools as soon as the team is registered. Team captains can also view the status of bowlers within their teams and how they stack up against the competition.
JA Bowling Theme
Each year, our JA Bowling Events take on a new theme that make them stand out from others, and is relevant to our mission of empowering kids to be successful in a global economy.
This year, as you can see, it’s all about Makers! What’s the connection? Junior Achievement has been inspiring Makers through its flagship JA Company Program® for nearly 100 years. Kids who go through the program create, start and run an actual business, which in and of itself fosters innovative and creative thought processes. During the 2017 spring semester, students from Travis High School used the school's Makerspace to manufacture product for their JA company, Snap Turtle. Read more here.
This past year, 350 kids from the Austin area experienced the JA Company Program®, and we want to double that in the 2017-2018 school year. Your participation in Maker Bowl can help make that happen.
