Lindsey Goldsmith

I am a strategic communications student at Texas Christian University. I am working for JA this summer as a Communications Intern. I manage the website, social media, and other communication outlets. I love working with the staff and learning about the nonprofit sector!

What brought you to Austin?
I grew up in North Austin and graduated from Westwood High School. I left to go to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, however I came back this summer for an internship.

Favorite LOCAL restaurant?
I love P-Terry's.

Who inspired you?
My mother and father largely inspire me every day. They have done so much to give me a great education and continue to guide me through life.

Favorite Austin business?
InStep is an Austin Birkenstock store that I like very much. The workers are very friendly and the shoes are always trendy.

Why JA?
I am so grateful for the educational guidance that I received through school. I know that there are many kids who do not get the same guidance and I love JA because it helps kids, no matter where they are from, believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. JA gives a very tangible solution to many equal opportunity issues and helps kids believe that they can be a part of something larger than themselves.

Advice I’d give my High School self:
Sleep is more important than you think. Sometimes you must put your personal health before other people’s expectations.

Where did you attend college?
Texas Christian University

Favorite Shark Tank Judge and why?
I like Robert because he is a down-to-earth guy and only invests in things he is passionate about.

Biggest setback I've overcome:
I learned I was dyslexic my sophomore year in high school. It took a while to learn how to study and I often had to spend more time on assignments than others. However, this practice lead to the development of time management skills and set me up for success in college.
